Concert at St. John Brebeuf

February is a busy month for me, and I’m happy to have played this week at both the Morton Arboretum and for St. John Brebeuf’s Musica Lumina Series.

The Morton Arboretum is a beautiful nature preserve in the west Suburbs of Chicago that has acres of gardens and native Illinois trees and plants. The Ginkgo Restaurant hosted a five-course dinner and concert for Valentine’s day and the evening was really wonderful. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Playing at St. John Brebeuf

Sunday I had the opportunity to play for St. John Brebeuf in Niles, IL. It had a very interesting circular design and the sound was really live. A little echo-ey but warm nonetheless. I met a gentleman afterward who told me stories of his career as a guitarist in the early 1930s in the Army Band. He said everyone had acoustic instruments back then, so they’d have to pass the microphone during solos. Thank God for modern technology!
